Dasvidaniya – The Best Goodbye Ever? It indeed is. Why this title? You should better watch the movie. As always I am not going to reveal any part of the story in this review but will definitely appreciate the beautiful creation. How should I start? Should I say it’s a simple and touching movie? Or it’s a low budget high intensity film? Well, I leave it on you to decide. All of the above statements are true though. If you are thinking that you are going to watch a hilarious movie on the grounds of Bhej Fry then you are wrong. Also, if now you are thinking that it is an emotional drama then you are wrong
this time too. It’s what you have never experienced till now in Indian Cinema, An amazing mix of comedy & emotions. An Emotional Comedy? Well, yes that seems to be the closest one liner review for the movie. It’s created brilliantly by the director with a simple but unusual script and excellent actors. And how can I forget the music. The music of the movie is also unique, soothing and touching. Technically, it’s a debut movie for few. Shashant Shah has become director, Vinay Pathak turns producer & Kailash Kher, a music director & lyricist. I must say that they have all done a fantastic job.The gang is back with some new faces and has again proved themselves. Yes I am talking about the gang of Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla and newly joined Neha Dhupia, Purbi Joshi & Sarita Joshi (Mumma). All of them were excellent in the film. Brilliant actors they are but Vinay Pathak has again given matchless performance after Bhej Fry in this movie. There are instances in the film where you will have tears in your eyes and a smile on your face which is very rare. And No, it’s not because of a hilarious sequence. It’s because
of the beauty of script & the work the actors have done in the movie. The feeling is unexplainable. At the same time you are going through contrasting situations. Although at some parts the pace of the movie is slow but that is fine because till the time you will realize it the scene will be over. But the drawback of the movie is the length. Yes and along with that a short duration of appearances of different actors. They are such a great actors that you want to see more and more of them but you will only see Ranvir in the beginning just for few minutes, Saurabh Shukla for a while and same goes with Rajat Kapoor. I feel that there should have been some more scenes with them. I mentioned it as a drawback but it was just because of my inclination towards them.Okay what I can tell you about the story is this. The main character of the movie is Amar Kaul which is played by Vinay Pathak. He is a shy and quiet man who lives a mundane, run-of-the-mill life. The movi
e is about how his life changes after a defining moment. The innocent character of Amar is beautifully portrayed. If you are a common man then you will definitely see a glimpse of yourself in him. Although the movie has an emotional subject and ends with a loss but it has a happy ending in a different way. You will not feel bad about it instead you will have a sweet smile on your face. Does this film has a message? Not really. But it has a different kind of feel which will be with you forever. If you are not attracted towards crowd puller, multi-starrer, illogical, much publicized, glamorous & mega budget movies then I strongly recommend you to watch this movie once. You will surely enjoy it and appreciate the sensible side of Indian cinema.I don’t believe in giving stars or ratings to the films as they broadly define the film in a way, which is not always true. But I am sure that Dasvidaniya will fetch more and more stars with time.
